Our top 3 web design questions & answers
Clients ask us all sorts of questions. That’s a good thing and something we encourage because we believe it’s important to know as much as possible. This being said, there are always some questions that are similar to one another. As a result, we thought it best to list and answer some of our most common web design questions. We hope that these Q & A’s will provide a useful insight and be beneficial to you, the reader.
How much does it cost to make a website?
How long will it take to build a website?
Can I update or edit my website?
1. How much does a website cost?
Probably one of the first and most frequently asked questions. Unfortunately, as all websites are different, there’s not a simple one price fits all answer. Dependent on client requirements and objectives, page numbers and features will differ from site to site. Consequently, our prices are also bespoke. A small website, for instance, is always going to be less expensive than say a large eCommerce solution. An eCommerce website development will likely contain many more pages and products. Therefore, the time taken to complete this will be greater than that of a smaller project. Subsequently, the price will reflect this.
That said and in appreciation of the above not giving an exact answer to the question, we have summarised some example costings in our price guide. Although, as a general rule of thumb, a five-page site will be from £695.00, ten-page sites are from £1,195.00 and eCommerce solutions start at £1,395.00. Our price guide offers details on what these costs may include. There are of course a multitude of options including more or less pages and unique functionality. These may slightly increase or decrease example prices.
By highlighting our prices, we hope to show that we are upfront and honest in the way we charge for our time. We firmly believe our prices are transparent and fair, especially when taking into consideration the quality of our work. If you would like an exact quotation, just get in touch with us. We can discuss your requirements and will then be able to provide you with a specific cost for your project.
2. How long will it take?
Another popular question. Taking our previous answer into consideration, timeframes are always going to vary. This is because timescales are dependent on several factors including the number of pages and features the website contains. As you can appreciate, a 100-page website is going to take far longer than say a 10-page website. There are also external aspects that can affect the length of a project, such as delays in receiving content from the client. However, in all cases, once we have the details we need, we’ll give you an estimated timescale for completion prior to work commencing. We appreciate that our answer to this question may sound a little vague. Therefore, as an example, a typical 10 page brochure style website will take around 3 weeks to complete.
Process timeline: This is broken down as 1 week to produce the initial design concept. 1 week to build the framework for the site and have pages ready for content. The final week to incorporate content, refine responsive layouts and undertake SEO works.
The design and development of a website are detailed fully on the website design process page.
3. Can I update my website once it’s live?
Yes. You certainly can, it’s no problem and easily achieved.
Additional pages
As a business develops, it may grow to offer more services. In this case, a client may wish to add more pages to reflect this. This isn’t a problem, we can add as many pages as you require, undertaking content inclusions and associated SEO works accordingly. We’ll also complete any alterations needed to the menu structure and internal page linking. As well as this, we will notify Google that there have been new pages added.
Blog posts
Any website will benefit from regular blog postings. Not only that this provides fresh new content (which search engines love), but also because each new post, automatically creates a new website page.
